This is the purrrrrrfect time to let you all know how much your support has meant this year (and throughout the years!)...what it's meant to me, and to the other musicians with whom I've shared the stage...as well as Jazz and Blues, definitely the coolest kitty cats walking on this planet! (...and they picked our house to live in!) No two feline sisters can dig the music and look at life quite like they do! (Ah...I know someone out there is thinking "My cat can"!)
And I'm sure I'm just being biased...how can I not be, really, when their names are "Jazz" and "Blues"?! Well yes, there probably are other cool cats! :-)

But I digress...
...as I was saying, if there were no "you", there could be no "us"! That's the plain truth!

So we want to say thanks, & send our very best to you. We wish you all the best in the 2012. We're sending you wishes for a New Year filled with good health and prosperity, laughter, and of course, MUSIC!

It's all around you, all you have to do is listen...
from a concert hall, to a "hole-in-the-wall- dive" with great food and even greater entertainment, or maybe you hear it in the rustle of the dried leaves scraping their way across the street...or the sound of a redder than red cardinal out calling it's mate... it's all music.

Whatever music you like, remember to make time to enjoy it whenever you can.
It's a simple pleasure that let's us know we're not alone in this world.

And that's a comforting thought to hold onto, whether you're listening to your favorite CD, or watching your favorite group perform live!

We would love to help make your celebration a wonderful and fun party for all...even the hosts!

Hi everyone. Just wanted to share some of what's going on and where I've been lately. We've played some nice private parties. Sometimes they are listed on the website, sometimes, at the client's request, we don't include them in the calendar (as has been the case lately).

Also I've been spending some time writing new tunes, both music and lyrics. That's a funny process. It either gushes out all together and it all fits magically together, the perfect melody and lyrics. And then there are more often the times when the melody is the medody you want, but the lyrics just aren't coming...& you have to walk away from it for how ever long it takes...2 days? 2 weeks? 2 months? You just move on and start a new project, (it's hard because it feels like you're abandoning your creation!), but it will come when it's the right time!

Sometimes a great lyric suddenly pops into your head and you put it to paper, and uh-oh, no music seems to fit it or do justice to it. So again, you try a few times but if you have to force it, that's the time to stop and leave it alone for a while. It will come. You may be in a class, or watching the stars one night, on driving in the car on the way to work...

I find my creativity is at its top form when I'm taking a walk, or even during my morning shower!!!

And when the lyrics and the music are "just right" you know it. Then you can't wait to hear the band embellish and add their touch to what you've written.

So you have the "high" of the song you wrote and the added "high" of hearing it interpreted by your musicians. It doesn't get much better than that! (Except when we finally start to perform that song live, in public!)

So that's what has been taking up a lot of my "free" time. I hope to put some new tunes on the next CD (not sure when that will be), but I look forward to it...and hope you do to!

I hope this finds everyone well and happy as Fall comes to town! Enjoy all the music in your life...it's all around you. All you have to do is listen.

It's a fun "give and take" for both guests and musicians...
and a very unique way to entertain your guests and get to know the band! (and visa versa!)

The versatility of this performance concept is limited by only the imagination...that's the only thing that can get in the way. So think outside of the box when planning your next party, regardless of how small (or large), and enjoy the Duo or the Trio... (If space allows, then enjoy the Quartet or Quintet, by all means!)

"If you haven’t tried the place before, Valentine’s Day is an excellent day to try [it] for the first time," said Adam Dean, beverage manager. "We do our best to create a romantic atmosphere with excellent food and service."

Diners can choose between three different appetizers and five main courses as part of their dinner. On Feb. 12, there will also be live jazz starting at 8:30 p.m., featuring the Bobbe Shore and the Trio.

"My wife and I have been to Market Street Bar and Grill many times on Saturday night, and we’ve always had a good experience," said Kenny Bishop of Reston. "We’re always looking to mix it up for our Valentine’s dinner, so we’re going to give it a try. The atmosphere is pretty special there normally, so I think we’ll do well there."

Jazz on Jackson Returns for Fifth Anniversary Season


In the spirit of its tradition of great entertaining, Decatur house invites you to relax under the stars and enjoy the wide variety of sounds from jazz musicians of both local and international fame. The popular series, presented in our beautiful courtyard, includes light hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and a tour of historic Decatur House, a fixture on Lafayette Square for nearly two centuries.

WHEN: The first Thursday of each month, from May through September. Concerts run from
6:30 pm - 8:30 pm.

WHERE: 748 Jackson Place, NW on Lafayette Square / The Decatur House Courtyard, a beautiful outdoor oasis just steps from the White House.

FREE Cell Phone Tour
Half Had Not Been Told to Me: The African American History of Lafayette Square


Lafayette Square is a unique landscape with a rich African American history - a history that is unfortunately not often told. This spring, Decatur House shares the little-known stories of Africans Americans on the Square in a new audio walking tour, Half Had Not Been Told to Me: The African American History of Lafayette Square. The tour debuted on April 16, in celebration of Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia, and is offered free of charge, seven days a week, using a surprising new technology - the cell phone.

Participants only need a cell phone and tour map, available at Decatur House, and they will be on their way to exploring the rich African American history of the neighborhood of the president.
